Annual Reviews
Each year I write a long letter to myself about what happened and what I learned. They're personal but I share them publicly because writing for an audience forces honesty.
- 2025 - Linear algebra, Aunt Jeanne, and learning to water the yellow leaves.
- 2024 - Yellow leaves, old ladies, and the labyrinth.
- 2023 - Give everything the time it deserves.
- 2022 - Hearing people's stories, systems that work, and family at the forefront.
Essays
Coming eventually. For now, most of my writing lives in private journals and group emails.
Group Writing
I write a "one-sheeter" for each session of the men's group I run. These are internal documents: an opening thought, discussion questions, a poem or quote. I may publish some eventually.
Topics have included: vulnerability, anger, fatherhood, career transitions, friendship, and what it means to show up.
For the David Whyte study group, I prepare essay summaries, themes, and questions to explore. We read one essay from Consolations and come prepared to discuss what emerged. Not what it "means" but what it stirs up.
What I Want to Write
- Something about the experience of building and selling a company
- Something about men's groups and why they matter
- Something about the intersection of meditation and ambition
- Something about being a dad in your 40s
If any of these resonate, let me know. External accountability helps.
"Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way."
