The Basics
I'm JC Cangilla. I grew up in Pittsburgh, went to a small college in Ohio, did AmeriCorps in New York, spent 20 years in tech and media, and now live in Los Angeles trying to figure out what comes next.
Family
Amy and I met in 2009. I left her a long voicemail as a blind intro from friends. Our first date was April 1st. We surprised our families with our wedding.
Jack (born 2013) is into basketball, gaming, and being 12.
June (born 2020) is into everything.
Practice
I started meditating in 2017 after taking a course at UCLA. My first silent retreat was January 2023. I'm currently in a yearlong Buddhist meditation program.
I'm taking philosophy and calculus at a local university. I'm not sure where it leads.
I encountered David Whyte's poetry in 2021 and it changed how I think about work, relationships, and what it means to show up.
